BIO

I studied architecture at Khartoum university and received a master’ degree from University of Rome, Sapienza, Italy in architectural design. My background in architectural design has led to my creative path as a visual artist, since then I found art is something that I most do and a major part of my life. Moreover, I am from Sudan, a country that has a rich culture, so I believe art is a powerful tool that I have to experience this richness. Indeed, my art works inspired by Sudanese heritage through folktales that mostly are transferred orally from one generation to the other.

My illustrations show human figures, animals and empty spaces that proceed with my knowledge in architectural design by using traditional elements in a contemporary way. My current art works have education, entertaining values to the younger generation by connecting them with their culture and heritage, beside it can bring   social groups together from fragmentation or falling apart. The narrative behind it is about giving awareness of some social issues such as gender and race. I transfer these stories in drawings and printmaking artworks using: Lino printing, Rubber stamps and Scratchboard techniques to achieve conversation pieces.
